James and I had a good day at Keystone. I started off looking for some shad and that was easy. Then Crappie. we caught about 25 of those most of them were small some of them were big enough to eat and then we had a few whoppers. So kind of at least got a pattern figured out seems like main lake area is best and there was quite a few of them around Mannford bridge pilings. 15 to 25ft. Everything South of there seemed pretty small. I tried catfish in a couple of spots and we caught one of those before it ever hit the ground literally on the way down. But otherwise pretty slow for me I didn’t spend very long with that just about 30 minutes. Got a big carp and broke off a couple fish in trees. Coming back tomorrow to do more scouting I’ll be sure to do my report! Currently taking customers to Oologah will still be my primary interest.
Fish On! dem Oologah crappie are fire lol! I dun got after them blue cats a little too. We been having a blast with it for days now. The Crappie seem to prefer about 13 to 18 feet at most. Size can vary from location to location. I’m using some Conventional and livescope sonar and I’m using live bait which is kind of my thing. Catfish definitely prefer Shad live or cut. There’s a bunch of little bait eaters a lot of areas. Wind blown banks about 15 to 20 feet seem good other time just open flats. The further north I go up the lake the better the catfish seem to be and I’m not seeing a whole lot of shad in the south end but haven’t covered every corner. Haven’t seen much on hybrid or sandbass i did spook you a big school of them at 25ft but they was small and didn’t bite. These trips are good for men women and children of all ages and everybody’s having a good time. I work around the heat a little bit but it’s been so nice out on the water haven’t even broke a sweat but we also got shade. wind is blowing perfect!!
Fish On! We had another great day at Oologah moved around till found big crappie and then added some catfish to the pile as well. Still getting things figured out but it’s been good. surprisingly the heat hasn’t been bad with the wind and some shade it’s good on the water.. book a trip with me any time this summer! Thanks to all my awesome customers! cleaned 77 fish and put 45 or more back into the lake.
Fish On! another successful trip to oologah Lake today for catfish with my customer Leon and his son and grandson I’m so thankful to have them! I’m also thankful that we started catching some catfish on the first stop and the second and the third by then we thought we would experiment a little bit that didn’t help much so we went to clean fish! Most of my fish were caught in flat areas about 20 feet deep mixed in with gar. We actually landed one of those alligator gar and we had a couple of massive ones come up to the boat with the hook we wasn’t landing those!! drum and some hefty blues. cleaned 25 released 5 or more. Call me to book your summertime trip this is really awesome!
