Fishing Reports

January

Eufaula - Jan 26, 08

Fished with a couple of good friends and did OK. We didn't catch a fish in the morning and then the afternoon bit got going. We ended up with 18 pretty nice fish. The largest was 15lbs. We had a couple more that were around 10lbs. The rest were in the 5lb range. The weather man missed the weather forcast for yesterday by about 15 deg. It was suppose to be 54deg and light winds. Instead the high was 41deg and lots of fog and wetness. We were dressed for 54deg. not 41. The water temp. has dropped quite a bit since the last time I was there. Its now at 38 deg. We were fishing  in 30ft of water most of the day when we were catching fish.

Eufaula - Jan 12, 08

FISH ON!!!! Had a real good trip to Eufaula. I had some very good repeat customers that wanted some catfish and we were able to find some. We were anchoring up on the edge of the river channel and fishing out of both sides of the boat. The fish came on the deep and shallow poles. The biggest fish of the day came on the deep side and he weighed 13.8lbs. We had a few others that were around 7 and 8lbs, but most were between 3 to 5lbs. By the time we quit we had 38 nice fish. We were in 5 to 30ft of water, using cut shad. The water temp. has came up some to 46deg.

FISH ON!!!!

Ouachita - Jan 01, 08

Fish On!!! Fished for 3 days with good friend Steve Carroll and had a real good time. We were camping and it was a little cool (22deg) one night but after that it was real nice for some winter time Striper fishing. We caught 23 real nice Stripers in the 3 days we were there. It took us a day to figure out the pattern. Usually in the winter time we catch them on planner boards and ballons. We didn't catch a fish on them this year. We changed tactics and started fishing downlines and started catching some real nice Stripers. The fish were hanging out in the channels in about 30 ft of water. They were real bunched up. At one point we had three in the boat at once. The smallest fish was 12lbs and the biggest was 16lbs. We took shad and goldfish and at one point the goldfish were catching more than the shad. The bite seemed to be best during the middle of the day. The water temp was 48 deg. And the lake is down about 7ft.
