Fishing Reports

October

Skiatook - Oct 29, 06

Started late and finished early. My Dad and son were both in town for the weekend so we decided to try catIM000555.jpgching a few Hybrids. We didn't get started till about 10:30 and quit about 14:30. We did manage to catch a few. Not alot and not any big ones.  We caught seven and the biggest was about 3lbs. That was enough for a fish fry so we quit. The pattern has changed some. They seemed to want the bait more on the planner boards and free lines than downlines. We did catch a couple on downlines, but most were caught on planner boards with no weight on the line. They were really schooled up. We would have two or three on and get one in. Then they would be gone. They were also in deeper water than before. Mostly in 40 to 50 ft and suspended at about 20 ft. Water temp. was 61 deg. Overall it was a very pleasant day to be fishing and catching.

Lots better. Although we didn't catch alot of big fish, we did manage to catch between 25 to  30 Hybrids. Most IM000552.jpgfish were in the two to three lbs range with a few in the 4lb. range.  All were caught on  downlines in 30 to 35 ft of water. Water temp. was 65. They showed up alot like last weekend but they were alot more agressive. But we did get several to boat that just came off for some reason. Overall it was the best day this month.

Skiatook - Oct 16, 06

Fished hard for six hours and caught only four fish. Tried alittle bit of everything, from downrigging to chumming with not much to show for it. We could find the fish but they just weren't active. I am not sure what has them shut down.

Pretty much a repeat of Skiatook the day before. We did manage to catch a couple of nice Stripers  on down lines. There was bunches of fish and bait, just not any hungry ones. We didn't try downrigging because we found plenty of bait and fish. It was alittle windy, water temp was 73. We had several pull downs and a couple break off. We ended up with six fish but they were not very aggresive.   I sure hope they get hungry soon.
