Fishing Reports
August
Very tuff fishing. fished hard for about six hours and only caught six fish, with only three of them being Hybrids. We tried about everthing I new to try. We tried chumming, downlines, freelines, freelines with split shot, freelines on plannerboards, and we tried downrigging. Nothing seemed to work. The fish we caught were on the downlines and freelines with split shot. I just never did find a good group of fish to fish. We did see quite a bit of surface action, but they were mainly sandbass. And to top it off the storms came in fairly quickly and just about blew us off of the lake. It was by far the worst trip of the year, so far.
Fished for 3 hours with pretty good luck, with some repeat customers. We
didn't have time to look around so we stayed in the same spot. We caught 10 fairly nice Hybrids, on dowlines and freelines. The bigger fish seemed to come on the free lines. It was pretty hot but a nice afternoon. Shad is getting harder to find and keep. Most shad were 3 to 4 inch in size, with some threadfin and some gizzard.
Hot, Hot, and more H O T. The temp and the fishing were both Hot. We
didn't catch a Hybrid till about 4:30, but then they turned on and it got even hotter. We ended up with 25 fish with 18 of them being really nice Hybrids. They were caught on downlines or free lines with small split shot. They were in 32 ft of water and coming thru at 20. Once we figured that out it was constant action till about 6:30. then it slowed down but just stayed steady till quitting time. Overall it was a very good trip for the middle of the summer heat.
It was so hot I saw a dog chasing a rabbit and they were both walking. 104.
A good day of fishing and catching. It stared out alittle slow but at the end
of the day we had 20 nice Hybrids. We had several healthy 5lbers. Alot of 3 to 4 lbs. They were in 32 ft coming thru at 20 ft. We seemed to catch more on the free lines out the back than the downlines. I put small split shot on the free lines and that helps the shad to sink slowly and it keeps them from dying so quick. Bait is getting harder to keep in these temps. It was a very nice day and fun to be with a family that enjoyed being around each other and just having a good time.
Fish On
Went out this afternoon with my son. We only fished a couple of hours but
ended up having a good time. We caught 10 decent Hybrids. They were all around 3 lbs. Some on downlines but most were on free lines with a couple of split shot. The free lines seemed to help the bait stay alive longer and slowly sink. It was alittle hot but the company made up for the discomfort.. It was real nice to be fishing with my son again, we don't do enough of it any more.
FISH ON!!
