Fishing Reports

Eufaula - Feb 20, 10

Went fishing with a good friend. We did not do very good. Caught some Blues. Water was pretty dirty. I think you could of tracked a coon across it. Biggest was about 8lbs. Water temp. was from 40 to 45 deg depending on the clarity of the water. All were caught on cut bait in about 25ft of water.

Skiatook - Feb 13, 10

Went fishing with my son for a while on Skiatook trying to get rid of some cabin fever. All we did was fish. We did not catch a fish. I am not sure if I even saw a fish on the locator. Ran around the lower end of the lake without as much a a single hit. The water temp. was 39.7

Venice LA. - Jan 21, 10

I went to Venice LA. for a few days of saltwater fishing with Mike Kimita and Steve Carroll. We went out with a guide the first day to catch some Tuna and Wahoo. We didn't catch either one, but we did catch some nice fish. We caught some King Mackeral and some big shark. Steve fought a 500lb Mako for about 30 minutes before he came off. We gave up on the Tuna an Wahoo and went to some riggs. Steve and Mike both caught a 25lb Red Snapper there and I caught a large Grouper. Not excatly sure what he weighed but it bottomed out a 50lb scale. The guide guessed 55lb's, I guessed 75lb's :-). It was the first Grouper I have ever caught and he put a really good fight. Took awhile to get him in seeing we were in 200ft of water. The plan was to go back out to the riggs the next two days in my boat, but the weather moved in and the water was to rough for us to go off shore, so we stayed inshore and fished for Reds. That was ok but not what we went there for. Most of the Reds were between 5 to 10lbs.

- Jan 04, 10

A little slow an cold. Fished with good friend Steve Carroll on beautiful lake Ouachita for a few days. We caught some fish but not a whole lot. The biggest was about 16lbs. We caught fish or missed some everytime we went out. It was very cold and we were able to handle that, but when the wind started to blow with some snow we called it quits. We came home a day early but we were warm. We caught fish on planner boards with 1/4oz weight with about 25 ft of leader. We used and caught fish on Shad, Goldfish, and Shinners. Water temp. was 46 and dropping.

Sooner Lake Oklahoma - Dec 23, 09

FISH ON!!!!!   Took a couple of friends Hybrid (wipers) fishing and we had a real good time. The weather was a  little on the cold and wet side but it was not to bad. It took a few stops before we were able to find the Hybrids, but when we did it was almost non stop for a couple of hours. When it was over with Allen Deiter cleaned 35 decent Hybrids. They were on the small side but just right for his up coming fish fry. The water at the bouy line was 50 degs and in the channel it was 50 degs. All of the fish were caught on downlines in 30 to 35ft of water.

Merry Christmas. May God Bless you and your family the way he has me and mine.

FISH ON!!
