Sooner Lake Oklahoma - Jan 28, 12

  Somedays your the Bug and somedays your the Windshield. We were the BUG. I sure was hoping for a good first trip of the year, but that did not happen. We caught one small Hybrid/Striper and that was it. We didn't even catch a Blue. We tried all over the lake in the warm water and cold with absolutly nothng on the locator. Couldn't even find any bait to fish around. Tried from 2fow to 80fow and nothing on the locator. Tried cut bait and live bait with no luck. We caught the one small Hybrid and a couple other bites. I went back out for a hour or so at the end of the day hoping to figure them out but never got a bite. :(    I can not remember the last time that happen on Sooner Lake.

Fish on!! The OSBA had our annual tournament there this past weekend. It was on the cool side but my son and I were pretty well dressed for it. Kenny Thompsons boat got first place with big stringer and big fish. Most of his fish were around 20lbs. We came in a distant fourth. The last morning we only caught 1 fish. We missed 4 or 5  just couln't get them to stay on. Other anglers had the same problem with them staying on(except Kenny). Our big fish was about 15lbs. All of our fish were caught on freelines or freelines with a split shot. Water temp. was 53degs.

Fish On!!!!!!!!. It was a great day to be on the lake and the fish were bitten. My brother-in-law an I decided to take a mid week trip and the cows were standing and the fish were bitten. We ended the day with 33 fish with three being channels. The biggest Blue was 10lbs but had several in the 7 to 8lb range. We were anchored on a ledge and most came on the shallow side in about 7fow and a few in the deeper water. The ones on the shallow side we were trying something alittle different. We were freelining cut bait. They seemed to really like that.  Water temp. was 45 degs.

 FISH ON!!!!!!!  What a day of catching. It was alittle cool and alittle windy but the fish were on a feeding freenzy. We got started fishing around 10:30 and by 12:30 we had around 50 Hybrids and Stripers in the box. We decided to go in and warm up alittle. After the break we tried fishng for ome Catfish without any luck for them. So we went back to where we started and it wasn't quite as fast, but we caught another 10 or so and called it a day.The fish we were csatching were in 28fow and the water temp. was 55degs. All were on downlines. We were in the warm water channel. Up by the bouy line the water temp. was about 60 degs. It was great to fish with a family who really enjoyed each others company.

Sooner Lake Oklahoma - Nov 13, 11

FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son and I had just a great time on Sooner Lake. We got there around noon and our first stop was the only one we needed to make. After the first 45 minutes we had around 30 nice Hybrid/Stripers in the boat. We caught all of the Hybrids on downlines in about 28fow. But, most of them were on dead shad. We were catching 4 an 5 Hybrids on the same shad. For some reason they wanted it dead. So, we ended up not using very many baits. When we finished after about two and a half hours we had our limit of 40 in the box plus  we had thrown about 10 back. Most were 2 to 4 lbs but we had about 10 that were real close to 5lbs or so. When we cleaned Hybrids they were all full of 3 to 4" shad. All were on downlines in about 28 fow, water temp. was 56 degs.
